Hey Guys,
1st let me say that I have read this forum often but am new to posting so hello, and thanks for your previous answers on a broad range of topics.
I have a 1979 20' Privateer C/C. The original fuel tank was corroded so I Recently cut the old tank out and I m currently awaiting the new one which is in the process of being built (aluminum). My question is when I replace the wood under the deck will resign adhere to pressure treated wood? Do I have to use resin and or glass at all if the wood is just keeping the tank from moving and the deck in a appx 5'x2' area? I am planning on spraying the deck with line-x after the replacement is complete.
Next, the wire and steering cables currently run over the topside of the deck to the console causing a tripping hazard and is quite inconvenient any ideas before the line-x (and while a portion of the floor is up) to get these under the deck?
I keep the boat in the water for 6 months out of the year and would like to keep her for a number of years.
Sorry if this is elementary to some of yaou but I am a fairly new boat owner (3rd season) and like doing these project myself, thanks guys.

Resin will adhere nicely to Pressure treated plywood. Make sure the plywood is well dried. New plywood is usually pretty damp. Rack it and dry it for several days.

Use resin to seal all edges of the plywood. I would glass in the base under the fuel tank, to make it rot proof, water proof and stronger. Find a safe way to route those cables and wires. Can you clamp some/all of them to the base of the gunwale? At least that would help a bit.

Thanks for the reply. i can run them by the gunwale but still have to find a way to get to the center console. Maybe glass a section of pvc along the gunwale then jump under the deck into the console? Problem being cutting through a stringer to get there!

ljenkins 2- Welcome to the forum. You have a very well built hull. I own a 16' privateer bay-boat and it has served me well over the years. The cables and steering on my boat run under the floor from the center concole to the transom thru a 4'' pvc pipe.I would call Privateer and ask them about adding this to your boat since you already have the floor torn up. I don't think it would mess up the integrity of the stringers but I am not the expert so give them a call to see if this can be added.

Pluto, Thanks for the response. I did call privateer last year for a few issues and an older lady was very helpful and suprising knowledgeable on my boat. She was also more then happy to take her time to fix my issues on a boat that they sold 30 years ago! Talk about customer satisfaction! As funny as it sounds I didnt even think to call them again to see their thoughts on the matter, I think I'm gonna give them a try monday morning...As for solid, I was very happy to see the way my stringers and bilge looked when I opened her up I was quite scared to see If I opening a can of worms!!!

Also when replacing the floor is there a significant difference between marine and treated plywood? I here good things about west system epoxies and glass what kind of west system should I use to put the deck and new wood in place? I would appreciate any link to videos or articles you guys have. Thanks
