Welcome to Iboats, Domofloge!
Can you provide the model number of your engine? There were a few different older 6hp out there.

That said, have a look at the end of the connector. You should be looking at a silver ball and an o-ring between it and the casing. Is it present?

If it's a defective fuel line connector you have, I'll tell you now the very best fuel lines, bulbs, and connectors are to be gotten from your Johnny/Rude dealer. No kidding!

Just to test that connector, plug it onto the fuel tank, then press the fuel primer bulb. If it still sprays all over the place, the hose connector is obviously faulty.

The only problem is that i just replaced the fuel hose. Is there any chance that there could be something wrong with the engine???

Just a thought. You maybe putting the hose end on backwards onto the motor. It is possible to put it on wrong and pushes the ball back enough to have gas come out.

Try rotating the connection 180 degrees and see what happens.

Re: PROBLEM!!!! 6hp Evinrude

It's almost definitely a defective new hose. With the ones you get from Walmart, etc, that's a suprisingly common occurance. OMC (Johnson/Evinrude) didn't make any changes to their fuel connector since the 50s.

The dealer ones are $10-15 more, but the bulb & connectors will last a lot longer and the fuel line is way more flexy. Normally I'm the type to save a buck and avoid the dealer, but not with the fuel line. ;)

Re: PROBLEM!!!! 6hp Evinrude

I don't think so. I suspect that the o-ring has slipped out of place or cracked, which would be a defect. If a return is impossible, you can just buy a new end-connector and clamp it on.
