Problem or not?

I attempted to start my (warm) F150 yesterday and it locked after two rev's. I tried again and it started up normal and ran normal except the full throttle RPM.
I ran it Friday and it made 5800 rpm. Saturday after the starting problem it would only turn up 5500 rpm but it ran good as usual.
Once home and doing my usual flush check and clean. I noticed the oil level was about a half inch above the normal level. I ran it four hours this weekend and at least half of that was idling.
Is there any correlation between the starting anomaly, making oil, or lower rpm? should I take it to the dealer to have a look, or run it a few hours?
This is a 2005 F150TXR with 58 total hours (43 hours on powerhead).

Re: Problem or not?

Chances are what you experienced was not the engine locking, but rather a bad battery cable connection. Cables need to be clean and tight. That means take them off, clean them (both ends) and then make sure the battery is charged, that the battery is actually good (no bad cells), and that the charging system is working. The dash voltmeter will tell you whether the system is charging. As for the high oil level, there is a multitude of threads about four strokes making oil and it's almost always because of extensive idling. Run the crap out of the engine once in awhile. Gas in the oil is not a good thing. They just don't get hot enough to burn off that fuel when you idle all day.

Re: Problem or not?

Thanks for the response, The battery is good and hot. I charged it that morning because I had bait in the box and ran the aerator all night. Cables are good, I keep an eye on that weekly. I did do a lot of idling Friday night and Saturday easing around fish finding. I guess it is hard to get it hot with 45* water and 55*-65* air temps.
Something I didn't mention is the creek I put in is 2'-3' deep. From start up it takes maybe five minutes to idol out into the river before power up. Once on plan I look back to see the pee stream, well, I had left the flush tube off. There was never any temp alarm so I guess there was no harm. My main concern is the lower rpm at full throttle. It usually turns 57 to 5800 and it would only turn up 5500 that day. Its only 200/300 drop so it may not be anything to worry about.
