While winterizing my boat 1998 5.7gsi volvo penta I was using a short piece of wire to clear the block drain on the starboard side. When I went to move the drop light into a better position I noticed a slight electrical arc. I Believe I may have pushed the wire into the exposed end of the positive terminal of the starter. I then did try to turn to engine over, nothing. How to proceed. All help is appreciated. Don has solved my problem before but I am hopeful.

Re: Problem while winterizing

1. Posting the year of your boat may not be the year of your engine. What is the FULL model number of your engine, need all those letters following the 5.7GSi.
2. Did you check all the circuit breakers/fuses on the engine and at the helm?
3. When working around or near the starter, always disconnect the battery. I learned the hard way, several times.

Re: Problem while winterizing

Okay I think I found the issue. Behind me in tight quarters was the bimini not up. It appears that the post amy have knocked the kill switch off. So I put it on and ouched the key and we had sound. Thanks anyway Don.
