i cant get my bayliner to start-i have checked coil packs, flywheel, magneto -all that stuff. i think i possibly may have connected my batt. backwards. i was told it would hav blown the rectifier . if so , would that cause no fire going to any of plugs? there is power going into rectifier -checked with test light-nothing going out to the 2 accessory wires unless you have key on AND are trying to start engine . with test light on acc. wires and cranking at the same time -it shows a hint of power -nother more=im barely getting enough juice going thru to heat up the tiny wire in the test light bulb. is this whats stopping juice going to coil?

the engine has those safety plugs on it also-the flat ones-non adjustable gap-and yes already checked the engine safety shutoff switch.. hope someone can help

The ignition is completely self energising and independant of the charging system so the rectifier is not the problem.
First, at the engine terminal, disconnect the BLUE wire and try to start. If the engine will now start, the problem is in the stop circuit or the ignition switch. The stop circuit is: two white wires from the CD boxes connect to the white wire at the engine terminal near the starter. Thuis white wire goes to the "M" terminal on the ignition switch. The blue wire connects to the other "M" terminal on the ignition switch. At the terminal board near the starter it is jumped to black ground. With the ignition switch in start or run, the two "M" terminals do not connect. When the key is turned off, they do connect and the CD boxes are grounded from white through blue, preventing spark.

I'm not sure what you mean by accessory wires.
