Problem with a volvo penta aq125 a, 1985 bayliner capri bowrider

So the problem here is cant get the engine to turn over. Got a brand new optima battery, fully charged inside it. new spark plugs, new wires, new blaster coil, and all the wires and everything are connected all the way around. every fuse has been gone over and still you turn the key and it will not even turn over or make a sound. so what stumps me is the lights are on, the dash has power, the leg even goes up and down, bilge pump works fine, same with the fan. check the throttle it works, it gets gas, and still wont turn over. the only time that it has shown any sign was when someone accidentally touched the wrench an jumped the power straight to the starter and it turned right over. so is there anyone out there that can put any insight to this problem.

Neutral switch - is it working?

Dont believe the neutral switch is working, so we tried bypassing it today, heard on another thread of the switch, and that they tried bypassing it by running the wires just together rather to the switch and it would turn over for them but still no luck for us

so far still the only way we are able to have had it turned over was if you went straight to the starter and jumped the power there.

I have the same year of Capri. The issue may be the switch itself. The contacts may be worn out. Mine had a new switch put in at about 20 years old. Would love to see pictures of your boat. Mine's a 1650.

Check the safety lanyard, kill switch.

So, My boat here doesnt have the lanyard kill switch. and just to clarify the boat i am working on is the 1985 bayliner capri bowrider 1950 , and it has the volvo penta aq125 a. any other advice?

Can you answer these two questions to start troubleshooting.
1. Do you have a key switch with three positions, OFF-ON-Spring return START?
2. When you turn the key to ON, do your accessories light up?

Does it run when you jump it at the starter?
Check the main engine harness??The contacts might need some WD-40
