I have an AQ200D with a 280 drive with three lube points. One is on the drive and two are inside the boat.Of the two that are inside, I had trouble with the one to the starboard side of the bellhousing.I hooked up the grease gun and felt resistance, like the zirk was clogged.I dont think any grease went in. I removed the zirk and hooked up the gun and it was normal-grease came out of the other side.Put the zirk back on and I cant squeeze the lever on the gun.I think this is to grease the steering.Any ideas on whats wrong? Thanks for any input.

Re: problem with grease zirk on VP

I had the same problem on my 275 outdrive I thought it was my zert (zirk?) fitting but alas I didn't get any in there, ended up lubing the arm until I figure it out. I think it means a seal is tight, dried, something (?).....

Now on the top of the outdrive, it was so tight and then I couldn't get the greasegun OFF, ended up snapping that zert OFF completely.
Fine, ordered a new one. But I've got 4.5 hrs into trying to get the new one threaded into the outdrive - there's like zero room to get it started!!! :(

Re: problem with grease zirk on VP

thanks for the reply scott. The upper zirk is kinda tight-hard to get the grease gun attached. So,is it sufficient to lube the steering arm by slathering greaese by hand around the fitting? Is there a better way or is it a tough spot to fix.I'm trying to do the right thing but dont want to get too involved if its not really necessary. Any further info from some of the pros out there would be very much appreciated!!Thanks again.
