have a '98 90ELPTO. wanting to follow steps on the back of my can of power tune but have a question. the directions say to run in gear to normal operation temp. then says to shift into neutral and run 2/3 into carb throat at fast idle (1200 rpms). then says increase speed up to 1600 to 2000 then stall out. My delima is that my control box doesnt have a warm up lever so the only way I can increase rpms is when im in gear. how do i increase rpms with out shifting into gear? would i need to disconnect the cables and do it by hand on the powerhead or can I just back down the ramp into the water with the boat still on the trailer and just raise rpms in while in gear on he trailer?

Hi,

Are you sure that the handle does not have a shift release button in the center of the handle or that it pulls out to release the shift so you have throttle only.
Every single lever box I have seen has had one of the three. Lever, button, or pull the whole handle out.
