Problem with tilt/trim

I have a 1994 v6 Volvo penta sx outdrive. Took the boat out yesterday and everything was running fine until I noticed the trim was stuck in the up position and would not go up or down. When I push the button I can hear the normal squealing from the motor as if it is working but nothing is happening. What should I look for or test? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Re: Problem with tilt/trim

Do a search for other trim issue's. I had one myself last year. I put juice to the trim motor from the battery and nothing, so I replaced the motor, problem solved.

Since the pump is running, have some stand on the drive and bounce on it while someone holds the down button. When pressurized all the way up, the valves in the pump may stick.

i have tried standing on it and wont work. i have traced all the wires and everything looks good. does anybody think i should take the trim motor off the pump and examine or should i check something else. also thinking about removing the hydraulics off the out drive and then test pump. also the motor sounds like its working.

Re: Problem with tilt/trim

After checking every wire and motor everything looked good. Talked to a mechanic and was told to add more fluid and it worked. Everything is back to normal. Thanks for the input....
