Hello, I am hoping that someone can answer something for me...I just purchased a 1997 24ft pontoon in Aug from an older couple who didn't use it much. They had it docked at a local lake where we took over for the rest of the summer. The past few times we tried to start it it didn't want to start. It is a 2 cycle motor and it was getting gas and turning over but not wanting to catch. We pulled it out of the lake and took it to the River (Ohio) and while we were on the river it wouldn't start. We pulled it out and checked the plugs and everything is fine. My mother-in-laws husband is pretty familiar w/ these motors and he can't figure out whatiswrong w/ it. He seems to think it may be electrical. It DOES have gas but it almost sounds like it is out of gas. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I would like to try to help, but you need to be a little more specific. You say it won't start but sounds like it is out of gas?? Does it have spark? If not, did someone accidently engage the kill switch? If it has spark, check all fuel lines and especially the primer bulb. They should all be soft and pliable and you should be able to pump up the bulb until it is hard.

We have checked the spark plugs and there is no spark when we try and start it. fuel lines are fine as well as the primer bulb. That's why we are wondering if it could be electrical!?

If there is no spark then it is definately electrical....<br /> Like IBNFSHN said, have you checked that the kill switch is in the right position? Try that and if it doesn't go my advice is you take it to a dealer.
