problems with motor again motor does not start

i have a mercruser 3.0l and i used it like 4 times after the work i have done on it and now it does not start i checked the spark on the coil and the spark comes out white and the spark where the spark plugs are and they come out yellow and no gas comes out from the fuel pump and i put gas directly in carb and it does nothing. if anyone can help.

make sure plug wires are in correct order. I've been foolin' with engines for over 50 years and I'm constantly checking plug wire firing order and connections. It's one of those 'bad' habits you get into and just can't stop.I guess they call it an obsessive/compulsive thingy.


Oh! I see you have another thread going with more symptoms and history. Check rotor and cap while you're at it. If you have fire at the plugs and fuel into the carb with correct firing order and valves set correctly, it should run.

How about the plug wires...where did you get them?

How about the plug wires...where did you get them?

i got them in a auto parts store but the motor was running fine it started the other day and while it was running i gave it gas and it shut off then it started right up and ran slow for a while then when i gave it gas again it shut off then it didnt want to start anymore the starter frose i replaced the starter and now it doesnt start i checked the firing order and it was good the fuel pump went bad and i replaced it now it has gas and spark but doesnt even act like its going to start it cranks and injects gas but doesnt start i even checked the timing and it was ok the only thing i saw that the spark comes out the coil is white and looks strong and from the wires it looks yellowish like if it was week i took the spark plugs out and they where wet and smell like gas

I bought them at the auto store, the motor was working fine after I installed them even used the boat 3 or 4 times after I put them in.

if the spark is not a "good snappin blue", its time to start chasen were the problem is ,
due you have points or EI?

Have you replaced the cap and rotor? If you have blue or white spark from the coil wire, it has to go through both the cap and rotor to get to your new plug wires and give you yellow/weak spark.

What year is this 3.0L and what type ignition system?

Have you replaced the cap and rotor? If you have blue or white spark from the coil wire, it has to go through both the cap and rotor to get to your new plug wires and give you yellow/weak spark.

What year is this 3.0L and what type ignition system?

its a 3.0l 1996 electronic ignition
