Hi I have a mid 80's Mastercraft with a 65hp Suzuki 2-stroke oil injected outboard motor. I am a novice in boating and ran a ground on my local river a few weeks ago, the engine cut out and it shot up alot of sand/silt off the river bed. I managed to get into deep water and the motor started no problem. Today I took it down the river but noticed it was smoking alittle more than usual and the 'pee-hole' on the side of the engine wasnt sqirting water which I believe to be the coolant for the engine! Is this a major problem is there any tips I could try? I ran the engine for about 20 mins today and it was fine but dont want to do anything to damage the engine! I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Many thanks

Never run your motor if it doesn't "pee" water ..... it will seize .... you will have to get your impellar changed asap .....

Yes, that is normal ... but it needs to "pee" as well as spit water out the exhaust ....

I have cleaned tthe pipe out and it apears to have fixed it, good pressure water getting hot so presume it must have been a leak! many thanks

Problems with my outboard or user error?

Problems with my outboard or user error?

Hi!
New to boating and wonder if it is normal for Yamaha 200 hp V6 to "Pee" while in the water, but not when hose is attached on dry ground?

Thanks....

Re: Problems with my outboard???

Could be that the hose doesn't have enough water pressure too fill the demand for water for the motor, a 200hp yummy is a big motor ....
