Procedure for setting base timing on 93 onc 4.3

What is the proper procedure for setting base timing on 93 omc cobra 4.3? I have read something about grounding a purple wire but cannot find a clear answer. Or is it just point and shoot, then turn distributor?

any help is appreciated!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... I don't do OMCs, but I know the purple wires are the ignition circuit, 'n if ya ground one, ya get No spark,.....

Is the distributor points or electronic,..?? by Whom,..??

I have already found an answer and boat is running like a champ! Turns out this particular ignition system doesn't require using a jumper or grounding anything. Just get your light, loosen dizzy, and turn it. Its that easy. It is a prestolite electronic dizzy.
