I'm going to look at this 75 Glastron tomorrow. I am only familiar with boats with outboards. I can do mechanic repairs (cars) but dont know of the Volvo/Penta combo.

I want an older boat like this but only if it has solid decking, transom, etc....
I talked to the owner and will check it out tomorrow. The ad pretty much says what he told me on the phone.

I just need to know what to look out for on this setup or if it's a model to run fast away from...basically, if the bellows needs an engine pull or something like that to change out. I can pull an engine but would rather not get into that yet. Is "starving for fuel" a common problem on the Volvo by chance? and should the fuel pump be mechanical ? It dies in idle and has to be revved a bit to keep running.

It is an $800 boat, I'm not expecting to be buying a turn key nothing needed boat. I actually WANT to do some maintenance/repairs but not sink 2K into it from the get-go.
I need ALL opinions and things to look for as I plan on looking at this tomorrow.

Here is the ad......I dont care if someone buys it first, I have another boat, LOL.

Well if you don't care do not be in a big hurry to make a purchase that you may regret. I would check out the Mercruiser/Volvo outdrive forum on here for info on that setup..Also try classicglastron.com for boat and possible outdrive problems.

Yah, I'm just going to look but if , and I do mean IF one of them arent rotten mulch, I may make an offer for a play boat (I have a bass boat).
You're right though, I won't jump right in to a major project. At MINIMUM, they have to have solid wood and run @ idle (if thats possible at that price) LOL. Thanks again.

If they say no then I wouldn't even consider buying it.
Good luck.

Glastrons of that era were known to have soft floors. If you don't mind replacing a floor and possibly fixing stringers----definitely check the floor for soft spots. Your choice.

BTW" The boat in the avatar is my 1971 Glastron V153. I own two other models, A V163 and a GT150.
