ProLine 231 WAC

I have a 1997 ProLine 231 WAC. There is a pocket on each side under the batteries that is about 6 inches square and about 4 inches deep that hold water from wash downs and such. They have no drain holes in them, if I drill a drain hole am I asking for trouble or am I O.K. Don't think there is any wood in there.
