Hello everyone! So I'm relatively new to boating still. I've owned my boat for about 3 years now, and while I have done a lot of electrical upgrades and mods, I have no idea about choosing a new prop. I have replaced mine a couple of times, but keep using the stock size. I have a 1989 Sea Sprite with a Mercruiser 4.3 and Alpha One outdrive. It came with a Michigan Wheel 031025 which is a 14x19, and the one I have on there is shot from inexperience and hitting things! Last night I found a steal on a replacement prop from Craigslist and picked it up. The new prop is a Michigan Wheel 031027 and is a 13.5x23. My questions are:
1. Is this going to be ok to use since the pitch is so much higher.
2. What is this going to do when I try and run it? Slower/ faster out of the hole or slower/faster across the water?

I figured if nothing else, it would make a good spare since it fits properly and looks like new. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

It would really help to have a lightly loaded wot rpm and gps speed. But if you have been happy with the 19
you won't like a 23. Hole shot will be slow,Rpm "could" drop up to 800 rpm.
The boat may be fussy trying to run at reduced throttle.

So, in other words, it would make for a good backup prop. I can't try it out until next week. Thanks for the info.

What is considered a deal?In my opinion a good back up prop is one that will perform like the original. Maybe more tired or perhaps a little dinged up.
If its free I guess it would serve to get you back to the dock.If you expect it to fill in say on vacation I think you would be disappointed and so would your motor.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... If the 19" works right, 'n gives ya the proper rpms at Wot, the 23" is gonna cause the motor to lug, which causes detonation, which burns holes through pistons,.....

So,.... No, it ain't much good as a backup prop either,.......
