I have a 1982 50hp mercury thunderbolt outboard on a 12 ft equinox boat. When I turn to the right everything is fine, but when I turn to the left the prop seems to cavatate. I have to trottle back alot before it will bite again. Why only to the left? I was using a 15 pitch prop. I also have a 12 pitch prop. Does this make a difference?

Re: Prop cavatation

I don't think prop pitch has anything to do with the cavitating in a left turn. I think it's engine trim and X dimension ( the location of the cavitation plate in relation to the bottom of the boat).

c/6

Hooty
