The Trailing Edge of the Cup, should be Sharp and Abrupt. the Water will separate Cleanly. Any Rounding of the Edge will cause the Water at attempt to Curl around it, and that will increase Drag.

So the grinding marks that squared-off that edge weren't to remove casting flash, sprue, etc? The INTENT is to take a nice smooth edge and flatten it?

I'll leave it as-is but man, it sure doesn't feel right. :-/

Solas is a good prop IMO. I think Turning Point Hustlers are better. I think the TP Hustler has more rake, which helps a high speed boat, but is also useful with a std powerplant, like you have. Just an opinion

Price played a big part in my decision. I was looking at used props with their dents & dings trying to keep near $200. Then I found the Solas at Great Lakes Skipper for $250--about ½ price.
I'm supposed to get the insert kit delivered today but it's getting late in the day... And I have plans for tomorrow.

I may have wasted some time.
I've been nagged that i haven't hit the rev limiter... now that I've verified my engine has one.

I dug out my digital timing light and hooked it up to one of the sparkplug wires and started the engine. Boat tach read 900, digital tech read 650. 1500...1150. Pretty big error.

I guess this means I'm NOT over-revving and my 14 x 19 is probably spot-on.
