I have a 98' Bayliner Capri 1750 with a 3.0 Mercruiser Alpaha 1.My boat wont plane out very fast when I pull a wakeboarder or someone on a kneeboard with people in the boat, whats your opinion on whether I should go down a pitch,I'm running a 21 pitch now.Should i go to a 19 pitch or try a whaletale?

Drop down to a 17 pitch prop and see what it does- your pulling ability will shock you but watch your rpms- you could over-rev with the lower pitch. What is your WOT with the 21? That prop will not give you much low end power- to aggressive and it will slip when trying to pull a skier/tube up. Leave the whale tail off. A 17 footer with you and tuber should have enough oomph for three more people with the right prop.

A 4" pitch reduction is a very bold recommendation, without any RPM data being provided.

OKCapri: What is this boat's top speed, and what is your current top speed RPM...with your 21 pitch prop?
