I recently purchased a broken boat. 1989 Ebbtide 196SS (1700lbs dry weight). With a Johnson GT200 model J200STLCEB. I got the motor all fixed up and been breaking it in. Have not had it wide open yet, so top speed is unknown. The prop installed is 14.5 X 19P. I'm trying to figure out if this prop is best suited for my needs. From sitting still to full throttle the boat will plane out very fast (3 people and half tank of gas on board). I think at 4k rpms it's doing around 40mph (phone gps). Is this pretty standard for my set up? What should my top speed be? Should I just keep the prop I got?

After it's broken in.
Then we need to know the WOT rpm's.
You need to be able to get to 52-5500 rpm's at WOT.
You'll probably get up around 45-50

I had a 92 ebbtide 178 with a 115 mercury and got 4800 rpms, and 50 mph out of a 17 pitch prop. Probably could have went to a 15 or 16, but was way better than the 21 pitch that came on it that would only turn at 4000.
