I have a 1993 18' Bayliner with Force 120. I hit something and took a decent chunk from one blade of my prop, wondering if I file blade edge smooth if it would be ok to run for a couple days on the lake until I get a new one? Dosent seem to have any noticeable vibration but im sure it has to be somewhat out of balance from the missing aluminum. Prop is aluminum 17" pitch. What do you think? Too big of chance damaging lower unit? Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend using that prop.

Bear in mind that propeller vibration affects more than just the lower unit. It travels up through the drive into the motor.

This situation is why it's recommended to have a spare prop. I would buy a new prop and have that one repaired for spare duty.

I agree, I've been known to run damaged props with a little cleanup for many many weekends and I wouldn't run that prop.

I have seen much worse then that and guys going out every day with no problems. but they are older men just putting around the bay no hi speed. Now if it was me I would get it to a prop guy and get it fixed first but thats way I have three extra props.
