what limits me on my max prop. diameter. currently i have a SS 13x17 that needs replaced. going to replace with alum. cause of price, but sticking with same pitch. some of the ones i have been finding online range from a 13.25 - 15 inch diameter. so is there any reason i wouldnt want to go to a larger diameter?

Re: Prop diameter

The limiting factor is what the prop will hit if its too large a diameter. Your engine typically runs a 13-1/4 inch prop. Depending on pitch and manufacturer, diameter may change slightly from 13 - 13-3/4 give or take a little. You will not be using 15 inch props on that motor as it will likely hit things like the AV plate and torque tab. If you are happy with what you have, buy the same thing and don't worry about 1/4 inch of diameter as it has little effect on performance. It's simply a design factor.

Re: Prop diameter

so the 13-1/4 will replace my 13 no problem? i'm thinkin bout a 13-1/4 hustler with a replaceable hub. the hub is pretty well plug and play, right?

Re: Prop diameter

You need the hub kit for your engine. Sometimes a different thrust washer is required but it's generally listed along with the hub and/or prop application.
