Prop for 19' Galaxy open bow I/O.

I just bought a boat that is old and the prop needs to be replaced. I cannot find what the manufacture recommended prop should be. I haven't put it in the water because the prop is that bad. the previous owner said it wouldn't even get up on plane. It has a 120 hp. Merc., and weigh's 2600. The charts say I should have a max rpm of 3900 to 4300. The old prop looks to be a 14" dia. and 19 pitch. Maybe the prop is so bad that it cannot work, but the closest I can find out on pitch is 21 to 22, and that would be some what of a guess. Given the cost of a prop, I don't want to buy one that is way out there and then using methods described here to determine the adjustment to better performance.

Spree,, I have a 19.6 Cuddy,, same boat weight with a 140hp 3.0 in line four... I bought a 3 blade 19 pitch,, BIG MISTAKE!! took forever to get on plane,,, I bought a 4 blade Solas 15P,, I jump on plane now in about 5 seconds.. Get a 4 blade prop, trust me on this one... they provide more thrust, you will lose a few mph is all. Look at Solas 4 blade props for your set up. You wont be sorry you did.

I did find a 3 blade 17 pitch today so at least I'm heading in the right direction. At least if I cannot plane quickly, I'll have a solid back up prop, or one for gas economy. Flea market $15. Looks nice too.

Yea. The guy couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I saw it and then went home and got the one off the boat to see how it matched up and bingo! It didn't hurt that the event was about to end for the day. He told me he had two others he gave away for $35 earlier. Before I left to get mine he went to $20. So like anybody else would, when I came back I said take $10? We laughed and I bought it at $15. You meet the nicest people at Flea markets. If it wasn't for them and Craig's list....
