So I replaced my distributor yesterday and got the timing and dwell all set and new plug wires. Brought it out to the lake to test it out and make final idle adjustments. Thing ran beautiful better then when I bought it 3 weeks ago :) . On my way in to the boat ramp another boat was coming out and did not want to leave the center of the channel, as I needed to pick my son up from work I didn't stop and wait just moved a little closer to shore, and apparently this was a mistake as all of a sudden I heard a crunch  . Pulled the boat out and noticed a chunk of the prop missing  .

2 questions,

what pitch should I use for this, mainly will be used for fishing, and cruising around the lake but will also want to pull my son and wife on a tube. Also how bad is it to run it for a couple hours with a chunk missing, as I just got the boat 3 weeks ago and only had it on the water 2 times before the distributor totally crapped out I never got my son out on it. I had planned to take him out for a little cruise tomorrow since he is not working. Should I not do this? Just not sure if I can get a prop tomorrow and get it installed but would hate for him to have to wait another week as I am leaving for vacation on Sunday.

Thanks.

Your present pitch is probably under the prop nut. We would need your present prop size & wot rpm and gps speed to make any sort of suggestion.
What size is a "chunk" If you don't feel a vibration a day of boating isn't likely to cause a problem.

Thanks Steelespike, I would say the chunk is probably quarter size max. Unfortunately the prop hit something rock just before the boat ramp so not sure if there is a lot of vibration I guess I will take it out today and see.

Thanks
