I just had to repower my 98 Kenner 21V tunnel and I bought a 1985 Yamaha 150 w/ 225 hrs. Motor runs awesome, starts right a way, has never seen saltwater and purrs like a kitten. I haven't taken the boat out yet but I have a concern about the prop that is on it. I had an E-rude 150 with a 20 pitch 4 blade stainless that pushed the boat ok, not much top end but great hole shot, the Yamaha has a 17 pitch 3 blade stainless and I'm wondering if that prop is gonna work on this boat? I fish strictly salt water at the Gulf coast so stainless is the best choice but I can't find any dealers willing to let me "try" props to find the best match. Also, I can't find any specs on this engine to know what my RPM's should be, I've read anywhere from 55-5800 max at WOT but nothing in writing to confirm. Any suggestions? I plan to run the boat soon, after I finishing hooking it up, but would like some more info on this engine to know exactly what prop would work best.

Confirm actual wot rpm factory parameters for that engine and tach actual prop with you alone and lightly loaded boat on flat calm no wind waters, check wot numbers achieved to see if inside safe min-max stated numbers, current prop it's a good starting point from where to go rmaximizng best prop to suit your boating needs.
