Hey guys,
I am looking to get a new prop for my 19' 2006 Bayliner 195. We use it primarily for water sports-wakeboarding and tubing. I tested it out this weekend to get some accurate numbers for you experts as I'm new to this game...I would like to get a little pop out of the hole. Not really concerned about top speed because I never run her wide open.

WOT with trim all the way down was right at 5,000 RPM's and 44.3 MPH.
If I trim it up slighty it will go 1.6 MPH faster. If I trim it up too much RPM's hit 5,200 and rev limited kicks in.
The current prop is a 19* 14.5" aluminum (this is the boat's OEM prop)
I honestly don't know the weight, because I have read different #'s but I believe it is meant to weigh about 2,700lbs. I typically have 4 total passengers including myself with minimal gear. The engine is Mercruiser 4.3L 190HP with Alpha I drive.

Thanks in advance guys I really appreciate the help!

You are currently underpropped - assume the previous owner was into watersports as well.

You should look at a 4 blade for the extra pulling power and even increasing the pitch to 20" you might still over rev a little, so watch the tach if you run WOT.

When you change the pitch-what exactly does that do?
I have heard that more blades are better-would I stay with the same diameter?

Thanks!

If I were to get a mercury High Five prop, would 20 pitch be the best for me?

Probably more like 21-22, you need to bring the revs down, but since you are hitting your rev limiter, we don't have any valid data to baseline you with. This is all just speculation. We do know that you need AT LEAST 2 more inches of pitch with your current prop.

Do you have a prop exchange dealer in your area? They basically sell you a prop, but let you try several till you get just the right one.

Prop exchange sounds like the way to go! I will have to look around to see if I do have one near me.
Thanks Shabah!
