I have a big deep and wide flat bottom boat. Its 14' and 48" wide at the floor. I was wondering if the prop that is on my motor is right for what I do. I took it out today and it seems like when I put that last little throttle, it tops out really quick and isnt responsive as much as it should be.

Its a 1988 Evinrude 25hp...its a long shaft, but I have a transom elevator to raise the cavitation plate even with the bottom of the boat. It has a 10x13 on it. Is that a pretty universal prop for this motor, or could I change to something else and get a different outcome. I am all about speed...I like a little bit of torque at the beginning, but I really want speed. I want to get from point a to point b quick as possible.

thanks

Best bet would be to hook up a tach and see what your WOT RPM is then go from there.

Read the stickys at the top of the page. There is no way to make an informed prop selection without your present max rpm and speed.Perhaps borrow a shop tach or a tinytach is reasonable and easy to install.Take a friend with a gps for a ride.
