I have a 24' Aqua Patio Pontoon with a 75 HP 1985 4 cylinder Merc. It has a eleven inch 15 pitch 3 blade prop that turns 6000 plus rpm. I know that is not right. Does any one have a recomendation for the correct prop? Thanks

Re: Prop for Pontoon

My first thought is the tach is bad or set wrong. You might try rotating the selector switch several times to see if it might clean the contacts.Tach could be set wrong
Numbers on switch do not necessarly coralate to number of cylinders.
I don't know the gear ratio for your motor but I'm thinking the diameter is wrong.
3 blade listings are over 13" up to about 13 3/4 4 blade at about 13"
Pontoon props are usually 4 blade of relatively large diameter and relatively low pitch. My guess would be a 13" X 12 " pitch 4 blade.Try to confirm your diameter.
Measure from the center of the bore to the tip of one blade a multiply by 2.
If you select a prop by the application and pitch; the diameter will follow.
Usually prop diameter is only considered to be sure it will fit.
