Looking to replace my factory prop with a new SS for a sea hunt 220 excape with yamah F225 motor.

Current prop is a michigan wheel aluminum 14.5 x 19, and I can spin 6200rpm at WOT.

Low end torque is important for me for watersports. Cruising efficiency is also important. Top end speed is not important at all, as 99% of my boating thus far has been in water that's far to rough to run WOT.

I have my eye on a used 15.25 x 17. I'm looking at that dimension based on a fellow owner of the same boat and motor (except his is the slightly heavier walkaround) who is running a modified 15.25x19 and was coming in at 5400 before modification by his prop shop, and 5700 after modification.

Empty boat weigth is 2250 lbs. F225 is ~600 lbs. I usually have 4 people on the boat when fishing in the winter, but will sometimes have more in the summer. Usually keep around 30-40 gallons of gas in her.

Appreciate any advice you can give.

I'm not an Expert but The one thing missing is your max speed at max rpm.The reworked prop may not be the best comparison to use.It would be good to know the speed for it at 5,400 and 5,700.That would be a good indication of how well the rework came out.It also possible your friend may be running below the max reccomended rpm.It appears to me they like to run the F225 in the 6,000 rpm range.Because you usually run with at least 4 people and more other times you should prop for that Max rpm with your typical load. Not because you want to run top speed but because the motor needs to operate within its reccomended range. It appears to me that the 17 will keep you in your present rpm range.Do you know if the 15.25 is a standard diameter for the 17in pitch.Seems to me 3/4 inch jump is fairly signifigant. But if typical of that prop is probably normal.
Again not an expert just going on my limited expierence.I would think one of the pros will be along with more specific info.

Thanks for your insight.

Unfortunately, I can't get a speed at WOT throttle because I've damaged the original prop due to some unseen object in the water. My boat speedometer had me at about 48 WOT, but I know they aren't reliable.

I'm pretty sure I've had it in the mid 40's by GPS, but can't remember the exact number.
