hi guys,

i have a 15ft, deep-v RIB with a tohatsu tldi 115. The prop is aluminium 13,25X17, and i've seen @5800 rpm (max) 37 knots, while @4000 rpm 22-25 knots. With 2nd person on board and extra stuff for camping etc it maxes out @5400 rpm and 34 knots. I have no problem whatsoever with this prop, but i need a second one as spare (aluminium again), and i'm thinking of

1. buying the same prop
2, bying a 4blade 13X15
3. bying a blade 12.75X17

Any opinions?

thanx

Rub, I show your overall prop slip to be very good, the only thing I question is how much extra weight was put in the boat when you added the extra person and camping gear. You lost almost 3.5 MPH when that was added and a 4 blade prop may serve you better if not much weight was added. Her are the numbers assuming a 2:1 gear ratio.

Re: prop for TLDI 115

The extra weight was about 180 pounds (80 kilos), but was unevenly distributed on the boat, so some of the loss could be 'cause of this (?).

I was thinking too for a 4 blade one, but which one? The (diameterXrake) 13X15 or the 12.75X17? I'm closer to the 13X15, the 12,75X17 was very "short" on a friends' rib (same as mine) with a suzuki DT100...

Thanks for the help guys.

If it was me I would go with the 17" 4 blade aluminum.
