okay, I investedin a tiny tach and got some numbers gathered after reading a several posts regarding what information I need to make an informed decision on a new propeller.

MPH 30
Prop OMC stainless 3 blade teflon coated
Pitch 13
RPMS WOT 5700

BOAT 16ft aluminum tiller handle
MOTOR 25 HP johnson

Boat is loaded with fishing gear and myself. I usually fish with 2 other buddies in boat.

I am desiring a little more top end speed.

Any suggestionss.

Re: prop help please

The problem is that based on your RPM, you are propped correctly now. You might try to change your setup a little if your A/V plate is too low. You want the A/V plate above the propeller to be just above and parallel with the water when you are on plane. Picture from: http://www.veradoclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=137.0

get a 40 HP motor..that little 25 is doing about all it is going to do..you could probably sell yours and find a good running 40 for about the same money, you could go with a 30 but it is only 5 more horses..thats a %20 increase though and it is the same weight as the 25..the 40 is heavier, but if you are looking for speed ..then the 40 will do you right. remember that once you pass 30-35 it takes a lot of increase to see much difference in speed. but you do need to make sure it is at the right height. a manual jack plate is around $75 and is very handy for setting the perfect height also gets the motor back away from the boat a little and this helps some too. I like a 25 for a large 14' boat, so if yours is a large size 16' then the 40 should do fine. I seen a lot of 15' aluminum's with 50s
