Prop Help

[todd weer]

I bought a new prop for my 135 horse alpha one mercruiser and it bumps the trim tab. Any help on this or do I have to return the prop. the Prop is a 14 1/4 X 21 which is what it called for. Any advice is appreciated.

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />21 pitch sounds a little steep for a 4-banger. Depending on the boat, they usually run 15s, 17s, maybe 19s at the most. You can grind a notch in the tab to get you that clearance.

Todd, There are three different Trim Tabs for the ALpha 1 (and inline outboards as well). One has the full tab (yours), one has about 1/2 tab and one has no tab (just a disk). Choose the 1/2 tab if it will fit. If not, you may use the no tab version. They are available at all discount marine stores and merc dealers.
