prop help

hi all i recently switched to a stainless prop 19 p well i finally got the boat out this weekend and at wot it was hitting the rev limiter with that prop while a alum prop in a 19 p is right where i should be in my wot rpms? any thoughts? i have a 1997 sea ray 175 bow rider 2 people 20 gals of fuel and minimal gear( tackel boxes and fishing poles) with a 115 merc outboard? thanks for the help.


oh yeah one other thing i have one of those stealth no drill "whale tales) on boat also. i won it thru ******** but i dont think that would have anything to do with my hitting rev limiter will it?

Generally a ss prop is thinner with less flex and may have a more sophisticated prop design.
It likely can get the boat up out of the water better all these things can add rpm and speed.
It would be helpful to know your max rpm and gps speed with both props Though its obvious you need a little more prop.
It may be cost effective for a prop shop to add a little pitch or cup.Explain your problem.You may be able to exchange props where you bought it.Same brand same style a 21" should reduce rpm about 300 to 400 rpm.
I would suggest removing the fin until your set on a prop then decide if you need to try the fin.
The fins can be very helpful and aren't likely to cause your rpm problem.But they can cause strange handling, poor top speed and
poor mileage.Thus the need to remove until setup is refined.
