Just bought a new to me boat, the prop must have been rebuilt because it just lost most of one blade without me hitting anything. Search as I may I cannot find a new prop with the numbers I gleaned of the hub. The motor is a 93 Mariner Magnum 40 hp, ser# 0D267619 and the prop # is 48 73142 A4 16p, there is also a # 440 just above the number. The boat is a Spectrum 16 ft. (I know I have some welding to do on it but I am able to do it myself). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Prop help

It is a 16 pitch. If it appeared to work well just get a 16" prop of the same material for a 93 Mariner.40.
It is pretty far up the ladder with only a couple of props higher.
Is the boat light and fast? is it Glass or aluminum?
Does it have a lot of pep and speed? Do you have any hard performance numbers?

It's a Spectrum 16ft. Aluminium, fishing boat, gps says 30 mph at wot with both the tanks full and my wife in the seat ahead of me. Hole shot is more than I expected so I,d say performance is good. The problem is no one can tell me what the stock prop was and what to replace it with. The prop numbers don't jive in any web site, Iboat says it can't find it. No prop company Ihave talked to has a 7.5 " dia. porop.

Re: Prop help

A 16" prop would be about a 10" diameter. Measure from the center of the bore to the tip of a blade and double the results.
Be sure the spline count is the same. The motor probably came with a certain prop but the final prop would have been applied based on the installation.
I do wonder if a 16" pitch is accurate the prop may have been doctored . Is it a tiller steer motor on a bare aluminum boat?
you know the hp and the spline count The only question is to verify the pitch.
A prop shop can measure it for you.
