I have a freshly rebuilt stainless prop off of a 1984 140hp Evinrude. It is stamped 21, which I assume is the pitch. Best I can tell its 12" in diameter, but wondered if there was a trick to measuring a prop. Any help appreciated.

Re: Prop ID

Measure from the center of the barrel/prop shaft to the tip of a blade, X's 2.

Re: Prop ID

If it's stock OMC, it's most likely a 12-3/4X21 SST.
With the prop on the shaft, if you measure from the center of the shaft to the outer most point of the blade multiplied by 2, should be the approximate diameter.
Sometimes the P/N is stamped or cast in right near the spline section where the nut and washer sits.
EDIT: sorry JD, we were typing at the same time I guess....
