prop info

I finally got my prop off and after some vinegar soaking was able to get the info on the stamps to be read.
The prop says on one side
F 12.5 x 8 P
AF
L

The other side says
12
A

Now at the Mercury site when I did the prop selection tool it said I should be looking at for
aluminum Black Max 12.25 " 3 blade 9.0 pitch RH rotation.

I assume the L on the old prop means Left hand rotation. So does that mean the prop is wrong rotation or was on backwards (if possible) ? How do you tell which way the prop was spinning or is spinning while on the lower end ?

So little confused on what I should be looking for in the prop specs.

Not aware of a Merc 40 being available in a left hand rotation model.

Back off a little and show a picture of the whole prop.

Standing behind the boat Normal rotation is clockwise ,right hand.
As the prop rotates the blades are angled to push water toward you standing behind the boat.
