Prop Install Question

I just replaced the prop on my 69 merc 65 hp on the weekend, and after reading some other posts, I'm wondering if I screwed up. I ordered the prop through iboats, a Solas that was advertised as ready to bolt on. I even talked to a rep and was told the same. After reading some other posts, I'm wondering if I needed to change/remove thrust washers. The unit bolted right on but in hindsight seemed to take a few extra turns to cinch up after getting tight. I'm hoping I didn't crush something. Any advice?

Re: Prop Install Question

My experience has been if there is no thrust washer the prop flange will grind into the locknut, and you will get a vibration   if there is a thrust washer and you still have nut threads you are probably ok.

Thanks. That put's my mind at ease a bit. There were still threads left on the shaft.
