Ok I have an 1994 wellcraft excel with an volvo penta 3.0gl with a sx outdrive. I bought a new propeller from iboats.com it is the solas amita 3 prop. I made sure I ordered the right one for my boat. I went to put it on this morning and the prop inner shaft is to short and leaves the splines hanging out so the nut will not even touch it when tightened down. Looks like I need at least 3/8" spacer on the end for the nut to tighten down the prop. Now my question is, will it be OK to put a few washers or a spacer on the shaft so I can make it work. Or talk to a representative for iboats Monday and find out why it's not fiting.

The thrust washer for an original VP prop and aftermarket props with removable hubs are different. One is thicker, I do not remember which off hand.

You need the spacer (p/n 3852350). see attached pic. The spacer is splined to fit over the prop shaft.
