just another quick question. took the boat out for a bit today. lil chilly but not to bad. any way, when i got back in and back on the trailor i dont know why but i spun the prop when i was walking by, then i noticed the prop had some free play. not to much but if i grab the center of the prop and wiggle it up and down i can move it a little bit. i looked for a spec on this but couldnt find one. should i tighten it up till i just cant move it? also, (sorry guess its 2 quick questions) the boat pulls right goin slow, but hard left goin fast. the anode on the outdrive is alittle bent, more like slightly twisted, could this be a problem with the prop being loose or just the anode? THANX for any replys!!! i appreciate it!!!

PS... its an se106 outdrive, was alpha 1, merc 4 cyl eng. 87 wellcraft 192 classic

Re: prop movement

A smidgen of play in the prop is normal, but are you sure it's not in and out? Too much laterally could be a problem.

Your trim anode will mostly affect steering at higher speeds. Doesn't do much at lower speeds. Typically you would turn it (adjust) in the direction that the boat is pulling.

Re: prop movement

ok ran outside with a flashlight and tape measure. if i grab the shaft in the center of the prop, i can move it in and out 1/16 of an inch, that doesnt move up and down, BUT if i grab the prop i can move that up and down on the center shaft 1/16 of an inch while the center shaft stays still. are both of these ok or should something be adjusted? THANX AGAIN!!!!

Re: prop movement

Both sound OK to me. The prop, and all of the shafts are looser when not under load. The drive is designed to operate under load and actually relies on it to facilitate specific functions. That's why many diagnostics can only be done under load.
