Prop Nut Removal

My Alpha 1 Gen 1 propeller has some special nut on the back. Has a domed plastic cap that I popped off with a screwdriver, then there is this cylinder that is held on by the nut. (makes it so you cant get a tool on it from the side) The nut is not a hex nut. More like a nut that needs a special socket. I can take a picture but I figured you guys would know what Im talking about. How do I remove it? Thanks!

Re: Prop Nut Removal

Ok, maybe this is an aftermarket security lock nut? Kind of like for your rims on your car? All I know is I don't have the tool. Im thinking I will have to cut it back, grab the nut with channel locks or something, then replace with a new factory version. Any ideas?

Re: Prop Nut Removal

Hi there, sounds like you have a prop lock.
For quick results, Try doing a Google search of how to remove a propeller lock without a key. Good luck.

It won't do any harm to post a pic. Might even help.

Ayuh,.... No doubt it Is,....

Without the special Wrench, ya gotta do whatever it takes to get it off,...
Sometimes, you can beat on a closely fittin' socket, either metric, or sae,....
Other times, ya gotta grind flats into it, 'n use a pipe wrench, or whatever ya got that works,...

Buy yerself a standard stock replacement nut,....
3/4" fine thread, ny-lock, bronze is what ya want,...
