I just bought a new ballistic ss prop from here. I ask cs about a brass/metal nut and they never heard such a thing. I currently have a plastic one will that work on a ss prop?

Re: prop nut

Don't you think it would help just a little bit if you told us what you were working on?

Re: prop nut

2004 25hp Mercury right? Is it a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke? The 4 stroke uses a 1/2 x 20 tpi and the 2 stroke uses a 5/16 x 18 tpi nut. You just need to go into and marine store and ask for a prop nut kit. The people who sell props should have known that?

This is the first time I ever heard of a plastic one?

McGard also sells locking kits for your prop so people will not steal it.

If you have a cotter pin on the shaft you will need a crown nut and if you do not have the cotter pin you will need a locking tab.
