Question for the experts. I'm looking for a prop for my boat. Can't afford new right now so I have been looking on Craigslist. My question is can an OMC prop fit my mercruiser drive? Several of the adds say that there prop will fit oth types of drives. I have an 05 Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive. Also is my prop a right or left hand? Ah help would be appreciated...

Re: Prop, OMC / mercruiser interchangability

Here's my take on this. If the prop intended for an OMC Cobra or OMC V-6 outboard uses a replaceable hub system, a different hub designed to fit the Mercruiser Alpha drive can be put into the prop to use on the Mercury product.

Since most OMC props I've seen use a pressed in hub, it would not work on the Mercury. Even though they are both listed as having 15 splines, the splines are different.

You can't use a OMC prop from a smaller motor, such as a 115, 135 V-4 as the hub diameter is smaller; as is the hub intended for a smaller Mercury outboard.

It's best to find a prop intended for a Mercury V-6 outboard or Mercruiser alpha/bravo 1.

Your prop is right(standard) hand rotation.
