Currently 350 chevy, alpha 1, performer intake, 625 edelbrock, aluminum thumper exhaust, msd ignition. 14.5 x 19p. runs about 4500rpm 50k at wot one person and 10gallons of fuel. I have no complaints but I dont know enough about balancing motors and props for economy and performance. First boat in 20 years and that one was a 35 hp outboard. Any advice or direction to find advice is appreciated.

Ayuh,... You want to prop it to 4800rpms at wot...

Not sure what the Ayuh,.. means , but if the advice is good , thank you. Looks like I am pretty close. Next time I am out I will watch the tach closer for a more precise reading. Appreciate your time. I will also get the gear ratio, and weight. the length of the boat is 19.5

"but I dont know enough about balancing motors and props for economy and performance."

Think of it this way..the prop is the final gear in the whole scheme of things. The best you can hope for is a prop that will drive the errr allow the engine to reach the mgf's maxium rpm band ...4800 is a safe bet.

The rest your just stuck with...speed....mpg....and performance characteristics...Now you can fiddle with your carb timing and cams whatever plz's you but its like a car with 1 gear from start to stop..not much to tinker with there.

3 blade props offer the highest speed
4 blades offer the best midrange

There are some differences in econ between the two....But really very little practical difference
