This year I acquired my father's 1981 Skeeter with a 75hp Johnson Seahorse. Now that the engine is working properly, my issue now is the prop. I've used both that he gave me. One is a 13 1/4" 17 pitch aluminum prop, which has great hole-shot, but I max out at 26mph at 5500 rpm. The other is a 12 3/4" 21 pitch SS prop that has zero hole-shot but top-end speed is closer to 40mph @ 5500rpm. I would like to get somewhere in the middle. My father claims that the 21 pitch was "shaved down" so that it could work on the engine.
I would like to stick with an aluminum prop to help with rpms for the hole-shot, but every prop I see on the prop guide for this engine is a 12" with 17 pitch. Does anyone have any recommendations to find this middle ground? I would hate to just start buying props, only to return them because they would not fit
