Prop/pitch HELP

we just bought a bentley 243 (tritoon) and are installing a 225 Opti Max Pro XS. What size prop do we put on it for best proformance. The local answers seem to be all over the place with little explanation.

Welcome to the forum. Before the SouthBay, we had a 2007 Bentley 243 w/ Merc. 200 Optimax. We were running a 14 x 19 Enertia prop. It was good for approx. 5600 rpm max. That motor was rated for 5750 rpm max, Our current Merc 250 Optimax Pro XS is running a 14-1/4 x 19 Apollo at approx. 5900 = max. These motors are rated for 6000 rpm max. All were 3 bladed ss. The best answer I can give you is to go over to the prop section. Those guys know their stuff. Give them the motor WOT rpm the boat type and size and the present RPM and they will help you from there. Their are so many factors in getting the right prop.
