P2159 is on the side of my prop. Is that 21" pitch and the 59 is referring to what, diameter? I have a searay 180 bowrider v6 18 foot boat with inboard engine. I understand the prop is like a gear and this 21" prop is like a high gear for my boat. I want more power for pickup (waterskiing) and im told dropping down to a 19" pitch prop will accomplish this. Can anyone comment or suggest a prop spec i should try out? My tachometer isnt working yet so im looking for a standard 19" prop one would put on my boat type and engine type (1992 mercruiser v6).

You should try a 4 blade 19 pitch. Should suit your needs perfect. I have a Turning point it pops up on plane no problem with a full load, 4600 rpms at full throttle and still get 46 mph

Does aluminum vs stainless steel matter? I notice quite a price difference. My current one is stainless steel but the prices on the aluminum are much lower so if they both perform the same id go that route.

So aluminum 19" pitch and 14 1/2" diameter for an alpha one 4.3l mercruiser on an 18 foot sea ray bowrider being used for waterskiing and also running around the lake is a good fit. From what i read. Does that make sense?

Yes it does. Mine is aluminum and have no problems with it. Like I said I have a Turning point hustler 4 blade 19" My boat is a 2004 Caravelle 187 with a 4.3 Volvo GXI. With the swim platform its a little over 20 feet ways 2700 pounds but with a full load about 3300 pounds.

The 4 blade gives you better hole shot. The extra blade grabs more water over a 3 blade.

Hey i had boat out for a couple hours today and the rpm gauge started working so i noticed the current prop is like 3000 to 3500rpm cruising planed out and 4000 rpm going max speed. So the 19 pitch would bump it up around 4500 which is better?

If you want great acceleration and higher top speed, consider a Mercury Enertia prop. I have been running one for ten years. It will make the boat feel like a whole different boat. It will raise the entire boat, not just the bow, out of the water. The pics below show it's not over trimmed DSC_1000a.jpg DSC_1002c.jpg

Jimmbo, just for the record, can you post :

1-Max wot revs and speed achieved running with 3/4 combo out of the water as in pics.
2-Max wot revs and speed achieved running combo parallel to water level with OB trimmed to 90?.

Always wondered how much difference in rpm/speed does it makes running both ways on flat calm, no wind water cond.

Happy Boating

3/4 combo?
I took the pics(my cousin was driving) 4 yrs ago, so I don't know what rpm.
It usually runs between 5000 and 5100 @ WOT. Speed? I don't know as the one in the dash quits at 90kmh and it passes that at about 4500 rpm and pins it 4700. The only time I ever had a gps reading was in 2004 or 2005 and I was running a raker prop. It was over 100kmh
