Hi guy's,

I have a 2002 19ft maxum bowrider with a 5.0mpi merc, alpha 1 drive with a1.62 ratio. WOT performance is very strong at just over 60mph at 4950rpm with what I believe is the standard ali prop with a 23" pitch.
I am looking to improve hole shot as its a little slower than I would like and to stay on the plane at lower speeds. I don't mind loosing some top end but wanted to stay within the engines WOT range. I am only looking at mercury props as they are readily available here in the UK.
I was looking at a High five but did not know wether to go for a 21" or 23" pitch or whether I would be better off with an enertia prop 22" pitch or indeed somethig else.
I need to get this right as try before you buy is an alien concept to UK dealers.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: Prop pitch

Have you thought about installing smart tabs or trim tabs instead of sacrificing other performance areas. Tabs would accomplish both the hole shot as well as a reduced planing speed without hurting top end.

Thanks for your input. I like the idea of smart tabs but would they compromise sharp turns for picking up downed skier's?

Nope.....

They'll probably give what you're looking for, Without a New Prop....
