Hi guys, looking to up grade to a ss prop and thinking about changing pitch a little to gain a little bit of speed. What I have now is a 50hp e-tec on a 17.5 Stratos 176xt bass boat, the prop is 13.5 x 15P and I run right at 30mph at 5700 rpms. Thinking about going to a 17P, I know I would lose a couple hundred rpms but don't think that would hurt, the thing I don't want is to lose is much on take off to plane, it's about 5 to 6 sec. to plane now. What does anyone think. Thanks for any input!

At the speeds you are obtaining with the Aluminium prop, a stainless is not going to improve your speed more than 1/2 mph. Going up in pitch will only kill your holeshot, and give you the same top speed.

I agree with the others, leave it as is. 30mph is all you should expect out of a 50 hp motor on a 17 1/2 foot boat :)
