I had a boat surveyed and one of the issues the surveyor mentioned was the faring is coming loose on the edges of the prop pockets (see photos). Is this something that should concern me or is it a normal thing that shouldn't get worse?

Yea I would guess there is a lot more going on structurally and would have big concerns.

Looks like a speed boat for running in shallow water. All the life has been vibrated out of that Tunnel Transom. Water has wicked way up those boards. Do Not buy the boat. They had all the fun.

That's a concern. It's not normal wear. It can let water into the core material and lead to serious structural damage if it's not fixed properly. Get a repair estimate.

They are going to pull the boat out of the water again and have it looked at. Seems weird that the same thing would be happening to both prop pockets at the same thickness if it's not the faring.
If it's the faring, going to have it fixed. If not, will keep looking.

the fact that there is bottom paint in the cracks suggest this has been that way for a long long time and the owner knew about it. even if it is "just fairing" water has most likely gotten into the open fibers.

I would walk away from that. There’s more going on that you can’t see. Even if the current owner has it fixed the next guy is going to have serious issues with that boat. You said it lives in the water, that water has wicked its way into unknown places. You and your family’s safety is more important than anything. I’ve seen plenty of surveyed boats that passed, then bought and needed thousands in repairs before being safe and useable.
