Looking for some help with prop selection. I have an '04 20' Fisherman with the 200HP 4-stroke Yamaha. It appears to have the stock aluminum prop @ 14.25 x 19. The boat has rather poor top end in my mind and cavitates like crazy if it is trimmed anywhere over 1/2 on the gauge or you make a turn - even on flat water. Engine is al the way down on the mounting holes. Has anyone battled with prop slection on a similar boat??? Stainless is going to be my most likely first step. Any help would be much appreciated.

Not surprising with the aluminum prop. Especially if its worn in the slightest. A 19 would seem about right but lets look at the rpm now. With an average load and not venting the prop are the r's where you want them at wide open?

Not surprising with a big 4 stroke on that light of a boat, try raising the engine a hole or 2 to see if that helps. If you are looking for top end speed, you have a battle ahead of your selection. Really all you do at top end is burn more gas, probably close to 20 gallons per with the 200 hp. If you are looking for some bite and lift, maybe try a 4 blade Power Tech, they are best for mid range efficiencey.
I have a 14 X 19 Mercury 4 blade off shore, but they say that the Vensura is a bow lifting prop, so don't think something along that line will help you.
You need to find a dealer that is will to work with you and trad out props until you get what you want. The only down side to that will probably be the price you pay, the upside is you get the correct prop.
